Day 107 & Week 16 Results!!!

I had Angela weigh and measure me, i couldn't wait till next week.

lost 3 lbs
1 inch from waist
1 inch from hips
1 inch from each thigh!!!
......that means the ghetto booty is going away :(
BUT my thighs are finally going down!!!

Angela's caliper measurement put me at 32% but then she entered in the info to a more exact measurement guide and i am 27% body fat! it even broke it down in to how many lbs were fat (58) and lean muscle (139. wow!!!

we decided to add more lean protein and oils to my food plan.

Same pants and sports bra every pic..... they are getting very loose!!!

Day 106- Compliments

Who doesn't love a compliment? i know i do, and i have been getting a lot lately because of my weight loss, which weird enough as it sounds i don't know how to take it. i am not use to getting compliments and great reviews. i am use to having to be defensive, laughing things off, or not getting compliments. of course for years there was the- you have such a pretty face- compliment (?) and being a redhead i have always gotten the- i love your hair/hair color.

i um unsure how to graciously accept a compliment other than saying thank you a lot. after i am away from the conversation a few minutes later i think back to all the tings i should have said, like complimenting them back, me not going on and on about how i do things, etc. i feel like i talk too much in that situation, like the person complimenting me really cares, but i am sure that they just wanted to say something nice. is that wrong?

I guess i just need to read up on etiquette on how to take a compliment.

Day 105- Forgot About the Pain

So i have a condition, a disease in my intestines and certain foods do not agree with it and it causes problems. i have avoided those foods so much over the last 6 months that i totally spaced that i even have a problem with them  till it reminds me so unkindly.

Last nite i went to a small gathering of friends for another friend's birthday and the party was corn themed. i made Scalloped Corn Casserole for the occasion (i did not have any) but i did have some delish roasted veges, a couple burger patties and 2 ears of corn.

Like i said before i spaced that certain foods do not agree with me and corn is one of them. if it was mixed into something i would have been fine, but because of the high concentration of it by body reacted badly.

after the party i headed straight home to take my medicine, but it was a little late to stop the reaction.. Back pain, abdominal pain, cramps, fatigue  (i will not mention the rest) after i started feeling a lil better, i decided to meet up with my friends at the club we all go dancing at.... we know the DJ (hehehe). everytime i felt bad i would disappear for a few minutes till i felt better because i did not want anyone to see i wan in pain. i felt tired and out of breath while dancing, which is very unlike me. when i felt like i was getting worse and was not comfortable there anymore i said good bye to everyone and headed for the comfort of home.

it is really hard to concentrate on driving when you are in pain, but i did it and got home safe. went straight to my room to get my comfy clothes on and then went to lay down with my huny for a lil bit and watch a re run of SNL. i could feel my legs and arms convulsing like when i have WAY too much caffeine and i am very nervous. i was so very tired on top of that, so i went to bed and let the meds do their work.

this morning a woke up feeling a little crampy in my back and some stomach sensitivity but other than that i am ok. took my time eating breakfast this morning and i am drinking a lot of water. went out to pick fresh veges from our garden... lots of tomatoes and green beans, a couple of zucchini.

surprisingly i did not gain much this time. i use to gain 3-5 lbs from this inflammatory disease, but only gained 2. that should be gone by tomorrow.

Kelly

Day 104- New Chonies

I have been saying for weeks that i need to get new underwear, and since our washer broke and it will be about a week toll the part comes in, it is the perfect time to get some new ones in a much smaller size. one problem......i have no idea what size i am. so, i will need to measure my waist/hips and see what i can find.

i have worn Lane Bryant undergarments for so long (since the 8th Grade) that it is gonna be weird not having that comfort zone of- i know what i am and what fits and feels good on me. it will take some trial and error. hopefully not too much error.... i am on a strict budget!

Oh.... and i forgot to mention that i had a milestone today!!! got out of the shower, wrapped a regular size bath towel around me and............. no gaps!!! i was totally covered but the REGULAR size towel!!! Amazing! Next milestone- thighs not touching the sides of the bathtub! :)

Day 102- It Fits!!!

I had some extra time this morning while getting ready for work since the gym was closed (Angela deserves a morning off!!!) and was looking thru my closet for what to wear. i decided to try on a couple things that i have not been able to wear for a couple years, back when i was 170-190 lbs. i tried them on a couple months ago and they were still tight. tried them on this morning and the fit perfectly. one of the tops i got at the goodwill. it was an Oscar De la Renta eyelet top retailing for $98.... i got it for $5!!!

So after those fit i decided to try on a corset that did not even zip up at its widest point a few months ago that i bought from a friend when it was too big for her. it fit perfectly! no back muffin top or back cleavage!!

Day 101- Is That Me???

it has gotten to the point in my weight loss where i am doing a double take when looking in the mirror. i don't look like i have looked like for many years. it is scary but yet at the same time exciting. I have never been smaller than a sizes 14 jeans in my adult life 2 yrs ago. i was a size 13 jeans in juniors when i was in the 4th grade....and it was all up since then.

i have been putting off getting new/smaller undergarments because of budget and i want  to wait a lil longer to make it a lil more worth getting a smaller size since i still somewhat fit in the stuff i have now, it is just getting looser. i think i will get new stuff around my b-day in october....

Day 100!!!!!!!

wow!!! 100 days!!! seems like longer.... lol

well in these last 100 days i have become slimmer, stronger (mentally & physically), i have inspired, made lots of new friends, took chances, made a new path for myself and am very grateful that i have the opportunity and can afford to do this.

i work very hard at this, some days harder than others. i know i need to keep pushing myself even when i have obstacles in the way like time, work, social life and hobbies.

i never feel like i am pushing myself hard enough, but i am my own worst enemy. things i want to work on in the next 100 days- more classes, dance more, get to gym earlier to work out longer, do more toning, get better sleep schedule and time management, don't feel so overwhelmed and take one thing at a time.

my birthday and the holidays are right around the corner so i will need lots will power. i know i can do it!!!

Day 98- Losing while on Vacation

I actually lost a pound while out of town!!! That has NEVER happened before!!!!!

In the past i have GAINED 5-10 lbs in one weekend out of town because of all the salt, sugar, grease and preservatives in foods that i would eat going out to restaurants or a "home cooked meal". it would take me 1-2 weeks to get that weight off and of course i would get depressed about- how could i let myself ruin a months work in 3 days! this time i was determined not to let that happen..... even with my mother-in-laws guilt trips (and she did try).

I had my huny bbq my pomegranate red wine vinegar marinade chicken (http://365dayslimdowncountdown.blogspot.com/2011/08/day-88-recipe-friday-pomegranate.html), i cooked sirloin burgers, packed whole wheat bread (easier to handle on a trip), bagged up a couple days worth of D fine and bagged up some baked zucchini & yellow squash. i had to stop by the store before we left town to pick up some bottled water and protein bars. (which saved me from sudden doom later on in the weekend.)

we ate breakfast before we left @ 7:30 in the morning and got to my mom's in Auburn, WA about 12:30 pm and visited for a few hrs before we headed to the in-laws to get settled.

When we arrived my mother-in-law took one look at me and said- i see you lost weight again. what are you doing this time? so i told her about how i do not ingest loads of sugar and salt, i do not eat fast food or go to restaurants and that i am eating for my body & energy, not my emotions or feelings. she then said- so can you have KFC? that is what WE are having for dinner tonight. i replied- No thank you.... i brought my own. she came back with- well can't you just take the skin off? so instead of letting her know that taking the skin off doesn't take away all grease it is fried in or the sugars & salts in the batter. but instead i just replied- no thank you, i prefer to eat what i brought. Ron worked very hard on cooking it for me.

The rest of the weekend was semi simple. there was a moment at the family reunion where i avoided the food all together, it smelled so good and there were sooooo many desserts that all looked so very yummy. later in the evening when out with my friends there was 3 b-days and 3 b-day cakes. needless to say i avoided that area as well. i brought a protein bar with me just in case, and it saved me from wanting to eat something else.

Sunday morning my mother-in-law wanted to go to Old Country Buffet for breakfast... one problem, no breakfast foods i can eat. everything is fried, cooked in grease, has too much sugar, etc. So i went with the old stand by of salad bar at 9 am on a Sunday morning. Mother-in-law tried to tempt me by saying how delicious everything was, but i was not swayed by her what so ever. all i could smell was salt and sugar in the air and on their plates. even though my mother-in law made comments about what i was eating, i did not make comments back about what she was eating.

on the way home i had a chicken sandwich from my packed food and stopped on the way back and got some water and Vege Booty. i know it is not in my food plan, but it is very low in sodium, sugar, calories and tastes yummy while getting veges in a corn/rice air puff. this is what i bring to parties, because i know it is "safe" for me to eat and cheap!

got home safe and sound..... knowing we will have to go back in a month or so to help my mom put on a new roof on her house.

Day 97- Family Reunion

While over in the Seattle area visiting my mom, sis, nephews, in-laws & friends (old and new).... i found out from my aunt that my dad's side of the family was having a family reunion. Of course i wanted to go, and i did. i was only slightly awkward.... but i was prepared for anything knowing the past that i have had with my father. it has been a bit strained and distant since i was 10, but it went rather well and better than i expected.

A lot of the family i had either never met, barely remembered or hadn't seen in years, so it was nice to see where i come from and what has evolved in my 33 yrs of life on that side of my family.

Now what you would never guess just by looking at me is that i have Phillipino family members on my dads side of the family. My great grandmother was married 2 x and had Euro heratige kids with the first marrige and Phillipino heritage kids with the 2nd marrige. great grandma was also adopted as a child, so we do not know what her heritage is.

Here is some pics of my family-
me, aunt tracy, dad, his wife darlene, uncle bart, cousin henry and in front grandma hamilton
My Grandma's sister Jona & her grand kids and great grand kids
grandma, brother, sister & another brother?

Day 96- Recipe Friday: Mango Cucumber Salsa

This was a huge hit @ my friend Lisa's Partylite party the other night.sooooooo good. so i asked her for the recipe, and here it is:

Mango Cucumber Salsa
2 ripe mangos, peeled, pitted and diced
1 large cucumber peeled and diced
1 small (or 1/2 of a large) red onion, finely chopped
1 Jalepeno pepper, seeds & ribs removed, finely minced
A handful of cilantro leaves, chopped
The juice of 1 lime
A light dusting of cayenne pepper
Salt to taste

Toss all ingredients in a bowl and chill for a bit to let the flavors meld before serving.
The heat of the cayenne is perfect against the sweetness of the fruit, but for even more heat, you can include the ribs and/or seeds of the jalepeno.
Happy Nomming!

Day 95- The Strategy for Going Out of Town

The Strategy is......
Bring my pre made food in pre made grab and go portions with so that there is no excuse to fail!!!!

If we do go out
Stick to the Basics! rice, potatoes, egg whites, veges. ask for  no salt or oil. it is easier to explain that it is an allergy then to explain that it is for weight loss reasons (sad but true) they don't wanna get sued if you have an allergic reaction whereas they probably could care less if you are losing weight and if they are real jerks may sabotage you!

If all else fails..... Salad Bar or salad with EVERYTHING on the side!

I am planning on drinking lots of water and the occasional diet soda.

I am gonna keep telling myself.......I have gotten this far, why ruin it for one bite, one moment of happiness, one weekend. it will take me 2 weeks to lose what i will gain if i let myself fail! i have worked TOO DAMN HARD for THIS!!!!

Day 94 & Week 14 Results

Day 93- Getting Caught up

My huny and i are heading to Seattle on Friday morning to visit family and friends. we go a couple times a year. Seattle is about 300 miles from Spokane, Wa and takes about 4-5 hrs to get there.

My mom has been very sick (RA & Osteoarthritis) and ron's mom has been in and out of the hospital for back surgery, mostly because she cannot seem to follow Dr orders to not pick anything up and to rest... so we picked this weekend to go for a visit.

we are taking Betty our black lab/lap dog/ fur baby with us as usual, so i need to pack for her too. the kitties, all 5- Waffles, Daisy, Lily, Chuck Norris & Bruce Lee are all chillaxing at home for the weekend. another reason i love cats- self sufficient!!!

Now comes the getting caught up part. i had blogs that i have not done from this past weekend till today- done
Need to pack for the weekend because i have plans the next couple nights with parties and craft nite- work in progress
need to make gifts for friends and family. i love to give- work in progress
still need to go to bed, work out and work. then training sessions for the next 2 days- eventually
and friday morning i need to pack all the food i am taking with for the weekend! No splurging! i know i can do it and this will be a HUGE first for me!!!

i will get there eventually. i may be going to bed an hour later than usual.

Kelly

Day 92- The Chiropractor

I ended up having to reschedule my usual Monday training session to Wednesday (weekly pics on Wednesday's post) so that i could go to my chiropractor.

Dr Miller is an awesome Chiro. very knowledgeable in many areas including Osteo. I interned for his office when i was getting my Certificate for Chiropractic assisting. it was a great experience and since i helped him out, he helps me out by giving me a great deal on adjustments when i need them.

Well Sunday nite my neck felt like i had pulled something, so i figured it would be for the best if i got it taken care of. Heat, message and an adjustment all in 10 mins... can't beat that! my neck does feel better but he suggests that i come in weekly for a while to get things back into place.

When i walked in he looked shocked to see me and immediately said how great i look. that he could tell i was taking better care of myself and eating better. he even said my skin glows now. i was about the same weight as i was when i interned for him almost 2 years ago and he has not seen me in probably a year.

it is alway good to hear such positive feedback. when i do i graciously say thank you with a BIG smile :)

Kelly

Day 91- Porn & Pancakes!!!

A couple friends of mine always have the funnest parties. one of them was having a b-day and decided to go with the theme of  "Porn & Pancakes". It was Epic. so much fun!!! lost of breakfast foods, everyone brought something. penis & breast shaped pancakes, french toast sticks, hash browns, eggs, bacon, vege bacon (not bad tasting!) scones, biscust and gravy, ect. Tony (the B-day Boy) is an awesome cook and did a great job as always.

i mostly had the hash browns, a pancake with sugar free syrup and a slice of vege bacon. then we proceeded to watch the porn after everyone's bellies were full. the selection "Jigsaw" which was a porn parody of the "Saw" movies starring the one and only- Ron Jeremy!!! It was Hilarious!!!

i felt i did ok at that event, eating wise. i did have a small piece cake, which was very rich and tasty. (great job on the cake Chae) i did gain a lil, but i am ok with that.  :)  it was suggested that there be another party called "Porn & Pizza" since there is more funny porn out there.

Kelly

Day 90- My Life as a Window Model

I was invited to help a friend out with an awesome shop called Glamarita (http://www.glamarita.com) and was asked to be a mannequin in the window during the Garland Street Fair in Spokane, WA. I thought- this sounds like fun and is a great oppertunity to show how awesome i am :)

Here are some pics of my awesomeness in action-

i did other poses.... but these pics were taken around the same time and are the only ones i have. my huny is in the bottom pic, sitting down, Grey shirt, texting.

after i was done i got tons of rave from everyone. they said i was the best all day and that i looked fab! my huny and i went for a sno-cone after that... sugar free of course. the flavor- Tiger's Blood! (watermelon & strawberry) we could defiantly tell it was sugar free syrup. yuk!

Day 88- Recipe Friday: Pomegranate Red Wine Vinigar Marinade

i have been marinating my chicken in pineapple juice this summer, but when i was out and did not want to make an extra trip to the store i came up with my own concoction that turned out really well!

Pomegranate Red Wine Vinigar  Marinade:
1/2 c Pomegranate infused Red Wine Vinegar (i have found it at Walmart an Winco)
 1/4 c Stevia or Splenda
Salt free seasoning to taste- i used Mrs Dash Garlic and Herb & Mrs Dash Tomato and Basil
 1/4 c-1/2 c water

add thawed chicken (i use about 6 lbs of chicken- 2 bags frozen that i thaw)
mix it with your hands
place in fridge for a day or so before you cook

it has a sweet and sour flavor to it. :)

Day 89- Work it!

Well my new mantra of having priorities seems to be working. i don't feel so stressed, a place for everything and everything in it's place and my bank account is happier.

i guess i am one of those people that no matter how hard i try not to, i need to have structure. a base line of some sort to start and end or i guess you can even say stability of knowing certain things are gonna be a certain way no matter what life throws at me.

in doing some of my prioritizing i have started getting up earlier so i can get to the gym and get my 1/2 hr of cardio in, not what i was doing which was getting there whenever (sometime after 7am) and working out for 15 mins or till 7:35a..... which ever came first. i am also getting to work earlier so i can get a good parking spot and have a zen moment before the craziness starts and i have been doing a 1/2 hr cardio after work.... even if i have to talk myself in to it.

today before my training session with Angela i did and extra 10 mins of cardio rather than sitting on my butt waiting for my session to start.

so all in all my new "priority" plan is working :) yay me!

Day 87- Need New Stuff, Short on Cash

So it is getting to that point in my weight loss journey where i need to start purchasing new undergarments. My breast are starting to not be pushed up in my push up bra and i am swilling in my strapless bra that i use to fill no problem. Not to mention the underwear situaltion...... my "hipster" panties are now granny panties. not cute. sure they are comfortable, on laundry day, but not for everyday wear.

Now comes the part i hate...... Trying on Bras. i have an idea of what size panty i am, so that is no problem. every bra fits differently and i am not one to go willy nilly to Walmart or Target and buy just any bra, no! the main objective is to make the "Girls" look good. price is a factor of course, so i will be looking at sales too. Victoria's secret is waaaaaay out of my price range! $50 for one bra is waaaaaay to much for me. (at least right now)

it is sad because i really, really liked my lane Bryant Bras and panties. always great sales on both and always really cute styles and colors. but their Bras don't go smaller than a 40B and panties smaller than a 14 :(

Day 86- Priorities

I have decided as of today (starting tomorrow) i am changing my priorities. since i was sick a month or so ago i have felt like i have gotten lazy. in addition the whole starting an online business and joining a burlesque group hasn't helped much either. i have disappointed myself although many would say that i am doing great, i feel i am not doing the best i know i can do. i don't feel the umph or kick that i felt a few months ago, and it makes me sad.

So starting tomorrow...
work out & nutrition comes first,
full time job 2nd (gotta pay the bills),
family & home 3rd,
Online business and Burlesque Group 4th (mostly on weekends, unless i have an order to fill or practice)

I think this plan will help me feel more in control of my life, because right now i feel frazzled.

Kelly

Day 85 & Week 13 Results

I still feel like i am not giving it 100%. i would say i am giving 90% when i need to give 110%. time to shift priorities again.

Day 1- 5/16/11                                                              Day 85- 8/8/11

 6/14/11                                                                        8/8/11

Day 84-.....So Little Time

Lately i have been feeling run down/sluggish. not exactly sure how to combat that. i am getting enough sleep, taking my vitamins, eating enough and of the right foods. But yet i feel like all the energy is just kicked right out of me.

Maybe it is the weather. i will readily admit i am not a fan of summer AT ALL!!!! i would rather have cooler weather and it get dark earlier (aka Fall) than this hot weather where i sunburn easily and have to be in recycled air conditioning all day.

Maybe i need to step outside on my breaks, or something else.... I dunno. i am running out of ideas.

Day 83- Salad Bar

My huny and stepson wanted to go stuff their faces at a buffet and i was given the choices of OCB (Old Country Buffet or Golden Orral (Golden Corral- the "C" was burnt out once... lol) so since we had not been to Golden Corral in a while that is where we went. Super Busy, crowded, you think it was the only place in town to eat. But i put my blinders on and headed straight for the salad bar.

I have never really had salad bar there before and was not very impressed. there was the basics- lettuce mix, tomato, mushroom, carrot, ect.... but the containers that they were in were so small that they were constantly empty and for someone who is only eating salad bar it is a hassle unless on wants to be a salad bar vulture. the selection of dressings was very basic. for some reason everyone seems to think that one light dressing is sufficient. sorry not everyone likes ranch, so i ended up going for the honey mustard. i had to go to the dessert section to find a lil bowl to put my dressing in because unlike everyone else there pigging out i do not smother my food in sauce & dressings. i saw people pouring on dressings like there was going to be a ration on it and they may not ever get any again. the point of dressing is to add flavor not to hide any taste of the vegetable. ugh.

The fruit was a lil better selection wise. watermelon, strawberries, pineapple were the only things not from a can.

i do have to say that i was happy that they had salad shrimp, but was saddened when i ate it and there was no taste to it what so ever.

all in all i would give the Golden Corral salad bar a C. they had stuff, but it was never fully stocked.

Kelly

Day 82- Recipe Friday: Stuffed Zucchini

It is about that time of year when everyone who is growing zucchini in their garden starts to get giant zucchini an a lot of it....which is where this recipe comes in at the prefect time!

Baked stuffed Zucchini
  • 1 zucchini (1 - 2"thick)
  • ½ cup celery
  • 4 oz ground chicken breast or ground turkey breast
  • ¼ cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 8 oz can no salt added tomato sauce
  • allspice, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
Cook zucchini in boiling water about 3 - 4 minutes or more depending on zucchini size...you want the insides kind of soft. Cut zucchini in half lengthwise and scoop out pulp (reserve pulp). Sprinkle with pepper.

Cook onion, garlic, celery and meat until lightly browned. Add rice, reserved pulp, and tomato sauce. Stuff mixture back into zucchini, place in shallow baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until tender.

Makes 2 servings (usually with a little extra filling)

Day 80- I Heart Dfine

i love this stuff!!! seriously! it gives me energy while helping with my weightloss and it tastes pretty good too!!!
I get mine at Max Muscle here in Spokane but there are other ways to score some of what i call "happy go-go juice" or "weightloss crack". ebay of course , but you have to pay for shipping and wait 5-7 business days or go to you local supplement store and see if they do or will carry it.

my store was out of every flavor but Vanilla Bean (yuck!) but there is a shipment coming in on friday, so they gave me samples to last me till then since i am out!!! lemon and watermelon.... i may mix them together for an even yummier flavor :)

here is a little info on Dfine:
http://www.sensational.com/diet/MuscleWerksDFine8.html

and here is how to find a max Muscle store near you:
http://www.maxmuscle.com/locate-store/

they do not have Dfine on their website (but they should!!!)
another great product that they have is Called High 5. it comes in many flavors and is a tasty protein shake. pineapple, cappuccino, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. i think i will try strawberry next :)

Day 79- Music makes me happy :)

i know i have mentioned this before, but music makes my work out go faster and i work out harder when i have good, fun music playing.

example- watching/ listening to news or this song.....

which one gets you "pumped"

I like to work out to the beat of the song, then i am focusing on the song more than the work out!!!

Day 78 & Week 12 Results

Today was monthly weigh & measure as well!!!

Lost 8 lbs this past month,  .4% in body fat  and 6 inches in my upper body. Everything else pretty much stayed the same which Angela says is common, that and we worked more on my upper body because i was having hip issues.

Day 1: May 16                                                              Day 78: Aug 1

Day 30                                                                          Day 78
