I really hate being late but i was just so tired and exhausted, i probably wouldn't have come up with anything worth reading anyway.
So i did the relay for life at Spokane's own Spokane Falls Community College. sadly i did not stay all nite. my skating injury from a couple weeks ago (bruised tailbone) hindered me from doing all of the over nite walk. after the memorial slide show, my huny & cade (my youngest stepson) who had joined me a couple hours earlier for the festivities, left to head home so i could slap a heating pad on my very much hurting tailbone.
I got back to the site around 7 am with doughnuts (none of which i ate but they smelled so good) to help my fellow team mates out for the rest of the morning. turns out that all of them went to sleep after i left, so i didn't feel as bad for leaving. one of them even took off with a friend to the casino and didn't return till 6am! wow!
when i got there they were all starting to pack up to leave, so of course i took down the tents that i had put up the day before and backed up the belongings and packed it all out to the car. then dropped my neighbor and her stuff at her house, then headed back to my house to feed the guys the left over doughnuts and get ready for the day.
at around 10:30 i dropped the guys off at the movie theater downtown and headed to meet a friend so we could go to Artfest and Elkfest, which were only blocks away from eachother. I packed all the food that i thought i might need for the day in my purse- chicken, satsumas, power crunch bar, baked zucchini and a bottle of water.
Loved the artwork, i even wanted some.... but very much out of my price range right now. Then we headed to Elkfest where we saw the last couple songs from one of my fave local bands- Mon Cheri

the only downside to the day is that i learned that even in a car i need to wear a jacket while driving. i got a bad sun burn in just 20 mins of driving! ugh!!! so here is my pasty white girl tips for when you get a sun burn this (and every) summer
- Step #1- after you have discovered you have been sunburned- immediately take a cool shower! it stops/ slows the cooking process of your skin. if you don't do this your burn will get worse!
- Step #2- Slather your burn in Baby Diaper Rash cream or ointment. i prefer the ointment because it is clear. The reason i say to use baby diaper rash stuff is because it is designed to take the burning sensation away and heal the skin. it also make you peel sooner and tan quicker.... if your skin does that kind of thing.
- Keep repeating step 2 for a few days or until the pealing starts.
- why not aloe.... aloe has healing properties and feels good on the skin, but your skin is thirsty and will absorb the aloe before you are even done putting it on and therefore is very time intensive. diaper rash ointment crates a bit of a barrier while moisturizing and nourishing your skin.
