Day 17- Make it a Habit

I know for me i have to make it a habit to exercise and even sometimes i have to pretend that someone is depending on me to get me to exercise or else i will make excuses (like this past weekend).

I was even talking to a gal yesterday who has lost 70 lbs and has made it a habit to do a work out on her Wii and that is the only reason she has kept up with it..... because she made it a HABIT.

I have made a habit of waking up at 5am, taking a shower, fixing my food for the day, getting ready for work and heading to the gym by 7am to do cardio for a 1/2 hr then it is off to work. After work @ 5pm i am back at the gym for either more cardio or Training (strength, resistance, etc) with Angela at Get Fit 360. I do that 5 days a week and boot camp on Saturday morning for a 1/2 hr and have started roller skating on Sunday nites. It keeps me busy and i think that is what i need right now.

When i wasn't busy i made excuses on why not to exercise or the ever popular.... I will start on Monday. Those excuses helped me gain 55 lbs of the 70 lbs i had lost in 2009 and they came back on 10 quicker than they were to take off.

So what i am trying to say is start one day at a time.....
  • do 20 mins
  • keep yourself partially distracted (TV, good danceable music or both) so that you are not focusing on the "pain" or sweating
  • do the same again the next day at the same time
  • make a date with yourself to do it the same time every day

eventually it will become habit and you will wonder why you didn't start doing this sooner because now you-
  • have more energy
  • you feel better
  • sleeping better
after that all other things will fall into place. you might even notice that you are not getting sick as often too or that your skin is clearing up. Lots of good things can come from exercising and making it a habit.
